Start with your basic supplies:<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBGoiDywKI/AAAAAAAAATQ/0F9fedm7V4Q/s400/Pulling+Pastels+001+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251274827665424546" />
• Versamark® Pad
• Stamps
• Cardstock
• Sponge Daubers or other applicators
• Pastels also known as chalks

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBK5e_OQtI/AAAAAAAAAUI/wiW0XbB-GcQ/s400/Micellaneous+063+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251279516945236690" />Rub the sponge dauber (or other applicator) on the pastel color of your choice to pick up the color. Swirl on your dark cardstock.<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBGorZ_dSI/AAAAAAAAATY/UqNU9zK8VXg/s400/Pulling+Pastels+006+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251274830174450978" />
Here I used black, but really any dark colored cardstock will work. I did this several times and used Night of Navy for the finished card.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBL31ytaKI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/bgot-pooH04/s400/Micellaneous+067+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251280588218656930" />Take another dauber and repeat swirling to add another color, until the entire piece is covered as you wish. I used reds and oranges in this picture.

Be careful not to rub too hard or your dauber will look like this It leaves lines, and takes away from the smooth finish you are looking for.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBQBTkzYAI/AAAAAAAAAUg/NqdpRIHO1Pw/s400/Micellaneous+078+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251285148878725122" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBL4OlOZPI/AAAAAAAAAUY/whqFfSlWbQY/s400/Micellaneous+081+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251280594872984818" />Stamp your images with Versamark™ onto cardstock. I stamped my main image first, than stamped the grass after stamping off one time lightly.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SOBGo-H01FI/AAAAAAAAATo/K1FqYOEALZc/s400/Pulling+Pastels+008+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251274835198530642" />Here is one of my finished cards using this technique. Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, and Kiwi Kiss go together very well. I used the Kiwi/Vanilla satin Ribbon, (which is to die for, btw!)The pastels will rub off a bit. You can avoid that by spraying your chalked image caefully with acrylic sealer.

Now you try it!
Stamp on!

Pun Fun

I have these stored in digital, so I thought I might share them again with you. I did give this 3X3 box with the cards and little envies to either Gail or Lauri at convention. I basically love this set because I found it so versatile. I did not take a picture of the 3x3 box I stored them in evidently, but used the last image of the rocket. I water colored and paper-pieced or used my blender pens on each of the images after stamping them with StazOn. I also doodled a little with the basic black marker. If you outline the images with Basic Gray or Going Gray and then use your blender pen, the image will pop off the paper.

<img style="display:block; I started with Pink Pirouette, used Royal Rose and Rose Red.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL3tW6BbtXI/AAAAAAAAALI/9AoBj7klKH4/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+010+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241606519117297010" />Here I am applying the next ink over the PP.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL3tXHEq1QI/AAAAAAAAALQ/CzC0D1tvfj4/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+011+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241606522620531970" />This is what I ended up with after I sponged the whole piece.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL4Gp7YxUtI/AAAAAAAAALY/412B7kS05f0/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+012+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241634333691826898" /> I stamped my image in StazOn.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL4GqORhY9I/AAAAAAAAALg/igelqNvCYqU/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+013+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241634338761696210" /> Then, I started doodling! Outlining the image, coloring in some spaces, and adding dots.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL4GqL3YNgI/AAAAAAAAALo/U002Qx_rGQE/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+016+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241634338115171842" /> Oh my, this is so pretty!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SL4GqeQ7bjI/AAAAAAAAALw/gVeSbBR5sic/s320/Bandanna+Technique,+Decor+elements,+Kennedy+017+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241634343054175794" /> Here I used Baja Breeze, Kiwi, Kiss, and Pacific Point. I love everything!), I thought I would post my first tutorial today. The tutorial is short, it's my very first one I've ever done online, and I cased the cupcake from a card my good friend Yvette gave me for my birthday! So here goes:

Craft Ink Frosting Technique
Supplies:
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLBxaphQHgI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/v3aXIAE0puk/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+006+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237811069267746306" />
Paper cutter, snips, stamps, craft re-inker, classic re-inker, StazOn or Basic Black classic pad, heat tool, Chunky Essentials Glitter, Designer Buttons, 4x8 Ridinghood Red cardstock. 2 3/8x2 3/8 Pink Pirouette, 2 1/8x2 1/8 Bella Rose DSP, Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon, Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel classic ink.

Steps:
Dry time for this technique is about 1 hour, if you do not use your heat tool and depending on how much craft ink you use.

First stamp your line image.<img style="float:right; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLByElDFxnI/AAAAAAAAAJY/751-n8H48Ik/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+003+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237811789622003314" />I used the Crazy for Cupcakes set on pg. 64 of the IB&C. Squeeze an outline of your white craft ink onto the image line. (Shake your inker a little to mix it up.)

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLBzI3CJupI/AAAAAAAAAJg/yL6hhDk7JiY/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+002+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237812962681010834" />
If your frosting looks like this:
you definitely have way too much ink out there.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB2DC5M7kI/AAAAAAAAAJo/k2Pkx6AvBoY/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+004+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237816161320365634" />
Add a small drop of your classic re-inker. It may run a bit, so be careful.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB2hSDFlzI/AAAAAAAAAJw/7k24r_s8W3s/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+005+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237816680784434994" />

Swirl the inks together like you are actually
‘icing’ the cupcake.

Sprinkle with chunky essentials glitter if you like.

Heat with tool gun approximately 5 inches away or you will get this (plus, I had way too much craft ink on my first try):<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB3JWXVerI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/hY3uHxlC1RE/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237817369137871538" />
The end result was pitted and I did not like it as well as the swirls!

That’s it! You’re done!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB4luEJ1FI/AAAAAAAAAKA/ASxo0xYlkbE/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+007+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237818956047832146" />Here is my finished card:
<img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB4lxAyWgI/AAAAAAAAAKI/gMId6g4cPNQ/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+008+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237818956839016962" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T5m-c9KtxPM/SLB4l-3GObI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/dTl-SqOm4-I/s320/tutorial+faux+frosting+009+(Small).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237818960556472754" />

I appreciate your comments! ~smile~

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

I am so happy with my new blog banner, developed by Michelle Laycock (Laycock Designs), and blog design from Heather Wright-Porto (Blogs By Heather).
